As AI develops, how can China's economy adapt to AI era? Helena Mcleod, Deputy Director General of Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), emphasized the importance of clean energy in a Dialogue with SFC recently.

“I don't have a crystal ball when it comes to AI, but it is a priority of GGGI. Because we recognize there are huge benefits.”said Mcleod. In terms of the energy cost, AI has really significantly increased energy demand. “It's by a huge quantum. So that side needs to be addressed and managed in a carbon-neutral way,” Mcleod emphasized.

“There's a philosopher, one of the top philosophers globally, who said two main threats to the human race—one is climate change and the other is AI,” Mcleod added. “So there's a massive upside to AI and a massive potential downside to AI. I think the biggest risk to the globe on artificial intelligence is that it exacerbates inequality.”
